Christmas TV 2024

Christmas is just around the corner and that can only mean one thing, festive TV watching! Take a look below at what’s on over the holiday season and which United Voices talent is involved.

 

Saturday 21st December:

Celebrity Gogglebox

We have the incredible Jennifer Saunders, Stephen Mangan and Miriam Margolyes sharing her thoughts on this year’s top shows on Celebrity Gogglebox. Tune in to E4 at 10.30pm.

 

Sunday 22nd December

Bad Tidings

This new Sky Original promises to bring some fun and mischief to the holidays, starring Rebekah Staton. Tune in to Sky Max or Sky Showcase at 7.30pm to watch live or catch up on NowTV.

Death in Paradise

This year’s Xmas special will mark an important turning pint in the show’s future bu introducing the new lead in the upcoming series. Both Jim Howick and Marcus Brigstocke join the cast for this festive episode. Airs on BBC One at 8.30pm.

Inside No.9: The Party's Over Documentary

From the mind of long-time collaborators Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, Inside No. 9 presented viewers with a different, self-contained story in each of its 30-minute episodes – often packing a dark or shocking twist at the end. One such episode was the memorable season finale from which this documentary derives its title. Featuring Nick Mohammed the show will air on BBC Two and iPlayer at 9pm.

QI Christmas Special

This year will see Sandi Toksvig and regular panellist Alan Davies joined by Gyles Brandreth, Lulu, Emmanuel Sonubi. Airing at 10.30pm on BBC 2

 

Monday 23rd December

Doc Martin Christmas Special

Picturesque Port Isaac provides the beautiful wintry backdrop for this festive special, with all the regular members of the cast reprising their roles. Portwenn is full of festive fun, until Doc Martin has the grotto closed down because he fears Santa has something contagious. Starring Caroline Catz, you watch the episode at 6.30pm on ITV.

Richard Osman's Festive House of Games

In this year’s festive edition of the hit game show, Richard Osman is joined by the likes of Rebecca Lucy Taylor (aka Self-Esteem) and Jim Howick, who will be competing from an array of ‘luxurious’ prizes. Tune in to BBC Two at 7pm every day of the week from the 23rd.

Would I Lie to You? At Christmas

Truth or Lie? Laura Smyth joins the guest panellists in attempting to lie their way to the top in the Christmas special of Would I Lie to You? Turn over to BBC One at 7pm.

All Creatures Great & Small: Xmas Special

This year’s Christmas special brings all the drama. Skeldale House prepares for Christmas and Jimmy's first birthday, but everyone is rocked by the news that Edward's ship HMS Repulse has been sunk. Starring Jim Howick and Nicholas Ralph, you can watch the episode at 9pm on Channel 5.

Strike: The Ink Black Heart

BBC crime series Strike returns to our screens with The Ink Black Heart, an adaptation of the sixth book in JK Rowling's Cormoran Strike series, which she pens under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. The cast includes Natasha O’Keefe as Charlotte Ross. You can catch the first episode on BBC One at 9pm.

Dune: Prophecy, The High-Handed Enemy

Don’t miss the final episode of the hit series, based off the sci-fi novel series Frank Herbert and mega blockbuster films of the same name. Starring Jade Anouka and Tessa Bonham Jones, this is certainly a finale you won’t want to miss. Airing at 9pm on Sky Atlantic and NOWTV.

 

Tuesday 24th December/Christmas Eve

Gold Rush

Series 15 of Gold Rush continues with episode 7. Sparks fly when Tony leaves his son with Cousin Mike. Desperate to get the gold flowing, Parker digs a mega ditch to fire up again on Dominion Creek. Narrated by Shaun Dooley, you can watch the programme on Discovery at 9pm.

8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Xmas Special

Join Susie Dent in dictionary corner on the 8 Out of 10 Cats version of Countdown. Tune in at 11.15pm on Channel 4.

 

Wednesday 25th December/Christmas Day

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl

The most diabolical penguin the world has ever seen returns to our screens this Christmas - Feathers McGraw – in Aardman’s latest animation, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.

The film sees Gromit’s growing concern as Wallace becomes over-dependent on his inventions - which proves justified when Wallace invents a ‘smart gnome’ that seems to develop an evil mind of its own. But who or what could be the cause? As events begin to spiral out of control, it’s up to Gromit to put aside his qualms and battle sinister forces, or Wallace may never be able to invent again!

Airing Christmas Day on BBC One at 6.10pm and BBC iPlayer, we have the wonderful talents of Diane Morgan, Maya Sondhi and Victoria Elliott in the cast.

Gavin and Stacey: The Finale

One of Britain’s most beloved shows makes a final return this Christmas Day.

It’s five years since we left Nessa down on one knee declaring her love for Smithy and asking him to marry her. And a lot has happened in those five years. Returning to her role is Alison Steadman and you can watch the very last episode at 9pm on BBC One.

 

Thursday 26th December/Boxing Day

The Road Trip

Starring David Jonsson The Road Trip is an upcoming comedy drama series based on Beth O'Leary's novel of the same name. The series is developed by 42 in association with VIS for Paramount+. Out on the 26th December.

The Masked Singer

Uncover the celebs behind the masks in The Masked Singer with comedy duo Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French. Airing at 7.30pm on ITV1.

Day of the Jackal Marathon

Eddie Redmayne stars in one of the breakout-shows of the year, Day of the Jackal, and if you haven’t been able to watch it, now’s your chance. Sky Atlantic is showing all episodes starting at 11.35am and you can also catch up on NOWTV.

 

Friday 27th December

White Lies

When investigative journalist Edie Hansen's estranged brother is murdered in his home, she's drawn into the dark underbelly of Cape Town. With her brother's children as prime suspects, she clashes with veteran detective Forty Bell. Starring Natalie Dormer, you can watch White Lies on More4 at 9pm.

Only Child

Don’t miss Jennifer Saunders and Fiona Bell in the new six-part comedy series Only Child. Bit-part actor Richard’s long overdue visit to recently widowed Ken makes him realise his dad may need a bit more full time help. Not that Ken would agree, of course, but that statement is pretty much true about anything. An eccentric, strong-willed technophobe, Ken is set in his ways, leaving Richard worrying about his dad growing old.

Only Child will be available to watch on BBC One at 11pm along with BBC iPlayer.

 

Saturday 28th December

The Split: Barcelona

Two years on from the third and final series, formidable family lawyer Hannah Defoe and her family are back and have gathered for a beautiful wedding at a magnificent vineyard, nestled in Catalonia’s wine region. The weekend will introduce audiences to a host of new characters, including Toby Stephens as Archie Moore and Stephen Mangan as Nathan Stern.

Catch it on BBC One on Saturday and Sunday at 9pm.

Archie

ITV’s four-part drama series depicting the life of Hollywood's greatest leading man, Archibald Alexander Leach - A.K.A. Cary Grant will air Saturday and Sunday at 9pm & 10pm both days. The cast includes the talented Jason Watkins.

 

Sunday 29th December

Cunk on Life

Philomena Cunk, brain child of Diane Morgan returns to the screen this Xmas and with her most ambitious quest yet - venturing right up the universe to examine life and existence. Airing on BBC Two at 9pm.

 

Monday 30th December/New Years Eve

Bottom: Exposed

Adrian Edmondson gives a first-hand account of making the hit show, Bottom, with the late, great Rik Mayall, alongside contributions from a host of the show's cast, crew and famous fans.

Tuesday 31st January/New Years Eve

Vera

Series 14 of popular detective show Vera will arrive on New Years Day with Sarah Kameela Impey as Dr. Paula Bennett. Available at 8pm on ITV1.

SAS Rogue Heroes

Who dares wins. The adrenaline-fuelled origins of the fearless, reckless Special Forces unit, its legend forged among the mayhem of WWII. By Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. Starring Jack Barton, you can watch the show on BBC One.

Missing You

Starring Richard Armitage, Detective Kat Donovan's world unravels when she finds her estranged fiancé on a dating app. Leading her to reopen her father's unsolved murder. Out on the New Years Day on Netflix.

 

Wednesday 1st January/New Years Day

Lockerbie: A search for Truth

Pan Am Flight 103 explodes over Lockerbie 38 minutes after takeoff on Dec. 21, 1988, killing 259 on board and 11 on ground. Dr. Jim Swire loses daughter Flora and seeks justice with wife Jane. This gritty dramatization of the harrowing event has Catherine McCormack in the cast. The first episode will air on Sky Atlantic at 9pm and be available on NOWTV.
