Hamnet Out Now

Fans of Maggie O’Farrell’s award-winning novel Hamnet can now experience the story in a whole new way, as a brand-new audiobook edition—narrated by acclaimed actress Jessie Buckley—is out now from your favourite audiobook retailer.
Buckley, known for her powerful performances on screen and stage, lends her voice to the gripping historical novel, which reimagines the life and tragic loss of William Shakespeare’s son, Hamnet. The audiobook’s release coincides with a resurgence of interest in the novel, as Buckley also stars in the upcoming film adaptation alongside Paul Mescal.
Speaking about the project, Buckley shared her excitement: “I could not put Hamnet down when I first read the book. And then to move through the story with these characters in filming, and now to return to them in the audiobook—it’s been an incredible journey”.
O’Farrell herself praised Buckley’s performance, calling her portrayal of Agnes—Shakespeare’s wife—“stunning and career-defining”. The author expressed her delight that Buckley was able to bring the novel to life in audio form, saying, “She knows the story inside out and has always been my dream Agnes”.
With Buckley’s evocative narration and O’Farrell’s masterful storytelling, this new audiobook edition promises to be an unforgettable listening experience for fans of historical fiction and Shakespearean drama alike.
